That we go to a bus depot, a train station, an auto dealer, but to an airport terminal?
Does anyone else see the finality in this?
One may have a terminal illness...one's management may terminate his position... when one is in a movie with Governor Arnold one might be terminated...
So why the airport terminal.
Sounds more than slightly ominous.
And all too final.
Perhaps those wacky Romans had something to do with it:
ReplyDeleteterminus (Latin)
n 1: a place where something ends or is complete [syn: end point, endpoint, termination] 2: the ultimate goal for which something is done [syn: destination] 3: (architecture) a statue or a human bust or an animal carved out of the top of a square pillar; originally used as a boundary marker in ancient Rome [syn: terminal figure, term] 4: either end of a railroad or bus route 5: station where transport vehicles load or unload passengers or goods [syn: terminal, depot]
Mm Hmm, but what about the beginnings? One also starts a journey there. At least "station" and "depot" are more general.
