Adventures In Sitting, Baby

I went to my first Weight Watcher's meeting tonight.

My Mom and her friend go every week, and I was asked if I'd like to tag along.

She bribed me with coffee afterward.

...and cherry cheesecake...

(I'm sure it was diabetic cheesecake...)

It was an adventure.

We drove from Broadview to Indian Head, about 45 minutes away- on a clear day...

We got to the hall to find the power out, so the meeting progressed by flash-light.

I suggested, (very quietly to my Mother) that it felt like we should put the chairs in a circle, hold hands and try to make contact with our dear departeds.

I've never been to a Weight Watcher's meeting before.

I wasn't sure what to expect.

I wondered if everyone would take turns saying, "My name is.... and I AM A WEIGHT WATCHER".

But that didn't happen.

I was impressed by it, actually. I mean, it's basically a support group for people who are struggling with their weight, and there was an encouraging and supportive atmosphere in the place.

And then we went out for the coffee... and the cheesecake.

I can justify that on so many levels. Don't get me started!

At least it was a nicely small piece that didn't have a crust to speak of, and it was easy to scrape the jellified sauce from the cherry pie filling off. I can honestly say that was the best cherry cheese cake I've had in 2 years.

And on the way home it started to snow, turning the 45 minute drive into much more.

I hope it was the snow that was supposed to come on Saturday, and that since it's here it will just melt away and be done.

Otherwise I may have to wash my underwear and stay an extra day or two!

So, Weight Watchers today, Lenten Lunch to hear my Dad deliver the devotional tomorrow.

There's nothing like visiting your parents to bring out your inner child!

Makes me feel young again.

In a good way!

Really!
