It's a good, safe way to embarrass one's children. "It's OK," I tell them, "No one reads it."
It makes me think, therefore I am.
It helps keep things in perspective. Putting a humourous spin on a thing makes it hurt less.

No amount of "humorous spin" can make a needle hurt less!
