We're here.
We landed uneventfully at Gatwick Airport (I think I prefer Gatwick at 6:30 am over Heathrow at noon and Glasgow at 6:00) and eased our way into polite society via train to Victoria Station where we stashed our bags at the Left Luggage department (for a reasonable price)before beginning a seven hour wander-fest in downtown London.
The tube was successfully manoevered, and the over land train competantly caught, and after a delicious pub meal on the way home we arrived at journey's end here in Kendal.
Randall was sleeping when I went up around 10:00 last night, and he was still sleeping when I came down at 11:00 this morning. (I'm giving him until noon, when it will be time to eat, as I thought it wiser to wait an hour for lunch than to mix things up by breakfasting at 11:00).
We'll also need to find a store. You remember the niggling in my brain?
Socks.
I went to dress this morning to discover not one pair of my socks in the suitcase.
Seriously.
I do have three choices, at least. There are always choices. Borrow a kindly offered pair from my hostess, use a pair of Randall's manly black ones, or go in search of new ones barefoot in my shoes.
At least it's just socks :)
There was some other funny story I was formatting for re-telling, but I'm afraid the socks pushed it right out if my head! There's a Wifi signal here though, so when I think of it, I'm sure you'll know.
Ta.
So glad to hear you made it and sock are the least of your worries...
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid them at all cost so my option would be barefoot!
Hope you won't need a vacation after your vacation like I do.
Totally agree with Elaine!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it! Have a great time!
I am assuming you now have socks and are having a wonderful time. It is great visiting with friends who don't mind lending even socks. Friends are the best part of a vacation - right up there with time spent in solitude in my books. Which doesn't really make sense - but there you have it.
